This is a chip shop's website, and it's built to be about as nosy as a paper menu taped in the window.
The short version
This is a chip shop's website, and it's built to be about as nosy as a paper menu taped in the window.
As this page stands:
- We set no cookies. Not one. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no consent banner to click away — because there is nothing to consent to.
- We run no third-party trackers and no advertising. No advertising pixels, no ad networks, no session recording, no profiling.
- We collect no personal data through this website. There are no contact forms, no customer accounts, no newsletter sign-up and no comments. There is nowhere on this site to type your name, so we never learn it.
That's unusual enough these days that it's worth stating plainly rather than burying it.
The one thing that works differently is ordering — because ordering doesn't happen here at all. That's explained next, and it's the part that actually matters.
Ordering happens on Foodhub, not on this website
You can't build an order on this site. Tap Order Online and you leave us for Foodhub, the third-party ordering platform our shop uses, at idealfishandchips.co.uk/order-now. Every basket, every payment and every delivery address is handled over there.
So once you're on Foodhub:
- Foodhub's own privacy policy and terms apply, not this page.
- Foodhub collects and processes your name, delivery address, phone number, email address and payment details in order to take the order. Not us, and not this website.
- Foodhub sets its own cookies and does its own tracking, which we neither control nor can see.
We're sent the order details we need to cook your food and get it to you, and we use them for that and nothing else. We don't add anyone to a mailing list, and we don't sell or pass on customer details.
If you want to know exactly how your data is handled once you're ordering, please read the privacy policy and terms published on the Foodhub ordering site itself. We'd rather say honestly that we can't answer for a platform we don't run than pretend otherwise.
And if any of that doesn't sit right with you, there's always the old-fashioned route: ring the shop on 01527 873228 and your order never touches the platform at all.
What's actually recorded
Web server logs. Like every website, ours sits on a server, and that server keeps standard access logs. For each request it notes the IP address it came from, the date and time, the page or file requested, and the browser and device reported by your computer or phone.
Those logs exist to keep the site secure and working — spotting attacks, tracing errors, working out why a page fell over. They aren't used to build a picture of anyone, they aren't tied to any other information, and they aren't shared for marketing. They're kept for a short period and then discarded.
Under UK GDPR our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests: keeping a website secure and running is a genuine and ordinary interest, there's no less intrusive way of doing it, and it has no meaningful effect on your privacy.
Analytics. If analytics is in use on this website, it is Google Analytics 4 in a privacy-preserving configuration — IP addresses truncated, advertising features switched off, no cross-site profiling and nothing used to identify you as an individual. It would only ever be there for the dull, useful things: which pages people actually read, whether the menu behaves itself on a phone, whether something is broken. If analytics is not in use, then no measurement of that kind is taking place at all.
Either way, this page is updated before any change is made, not after — so what you're reading here is the position that applies, rather than a promise about one.
Links to other people's websites
This site links out to places we don't run, including the Foodhub ordering system, Google Maps, the Apple App Store, Google Play and our Facebook page.
Once you follow one of those links you're on somebody else's website, under their privacy policy and their cookies — not ours. If it matters to you, it's worth a glance at whichever one you've landed on.
Your rights, and how to reach us
Even though we hold very little, UK GDPR gives you the right to access personal data held about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict how it's used, to object to it being used, and to have it ported elsewhere. Ask and we'll deal with it.
One practical note: anything to do with an order — your address, your phone number, your payment — sits with Foodhub, so a request may need to go to them rather than to us. Tell us what you need and we'll point you the right way.

Your questions, answered
Does this website use cookies?
No. As this page stands the site sets no cookies at all — no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to agree to. The Foodhub ordering system is a separate website and does set its own cookies once you go there to place an order.
Who handles my details when I place an order?
Foodhub, the third-party platform our online ordering runs on. Your name, address, phone number and payment details are collected and processed by them, under their privacy policy and terms rather than ours. We use what we are sent to cook and deliver your food and nothing else. If you would rather not use it, ring the shop on 01527 873228.
How do I ask what data you hold, or make a complaint?
Write to Ideal Fish & Chips, 110 Birmingham Road, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B61 0DF, or call 01527 873228. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
